Their empire once stretched across the Andes, thriving high in South America’s mountains before European arrival.

The phrase "Realm of the Four Parts" refers to Tawantinsuyu, the Quechua name for the Inca Empire, which literally means "land of the four quarters." The Incas divided their territory into four regions meeting at Cusco, their capital, so "residents" of this realm would naturally be the Inca people. The clue cleverly avoids the obvious word "empire" to make you think about the empire’s structure instead.
